People & Business :: Companies Monsanto’s Third-Quarter Earnings Soar4:36 AM MDT | August 7, 2007 | Nancy Seewald Monsanto posted its fiscal third-quarter earnings up 71% over the year-ago period, to $570 million ($1.03/share), citing increased revenues of corn seed and traits in the U.S. and glyphosate-based herbicides in Africa, Europe, and North America. Sales rose 23%, to $2.8 billion. Results were partially offset by lower cotton trait sales in the U.S., however, Monsanto says. The company beat analysts’ earnings estimates of $1.00/share.
