Mitsui’s Loss Narrows

Mitsui Chemicals reported a net loss of ¥28 billion ($304 million) for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2010, compared with a net loss of ¥95 billion in the previous fiscal year. Sales decreased 19%, to ¥1.2 trillion. Revenues at Mitsui’s basic chemicals segment fell 22%, to ¥710 billion, and the segment recorded an operating loss of ¥7.6 billion, compared with an operating loss of ¥32 billion in the previous fiscal year.
