Merck KGaA Acquires Effect Pigments Manufacturer in China; Opens Cosmetic Technology Center in Germany

Merck KGaA says it has acquired Suzhou Taizhu Technology Development (Taicang, China), one of the world’s largest manufacturers of effect pigments, for €28 million ($41 million). With revenues of more than €14 million in 2008 and 300 employees, Suzhou Taizhu Technology Development is also one of the biggest effect pigments companies in the Chinese market, Merck says.
