M&A activity in the chemical industry is continuing at a healthy pace so far this year, but much recent attention has been focused on rumors of potential blockbuster deals. Most of the speculation involves either private equity firms that are flush with cash, or chemical companies armed with high stock prices and strong balance sheets. Several factors have been fueling talk, but the funds available to private equity firms, which are raising record amounts of cash because of cheap and easy access to debt financing, is one of the biggest drivers, bankers say...
