Lanxess Converts a Part of EPDM Capacity to Energy-Saving Technology

Lanxess says it will invest €12 million to convert part of its ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber capacity to Keltan Advanced Catalysis Elastomers (Keltan ACE) technology. The Keltan ACE process reduces energy requirements and does not require catalyst extraction, as a result of high catalyst efficiency, Lanxess says. It also enables the production of new EPDM grades. Lanxess will convert 50% of its EPDM capacity at Geleen, the Netherlands to the Keltan ACE process in 2013. The largest of three production lines at Geleen, accounting for 80,000...
