Israel Chemicals Records Big Fall in Second-Quarter Profits

Israel Chemicals Ltd. (ICL; Tel Aviv) reported a 78% fall in net profits for the second quarter ended June 30, 2009, to $152 million, compared with the corresponding period of the previous year. Sales decreased by 48%, to $1.1 billion. The ICL Fertilizers business segment recorded a 66% fall in sales for the second quarter, to $465 million, compared with the year-ago period.
