Ineos shuts down VAM production in UK

Ineos is closing of its vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) facility at Saltend, UK, causing the loss of 18 jobs, the company announced today. Ineos's VAM capacity at the site is 300,000 m.t./year, according to IHS Chemical data. The closure does not affect Ineos's ethyl acetate plant at the same site, which will remain in production. Ethyl acetate capacity is 240,000 m.t./year, according to the same data. Ineos supplied VAM to its European customers via pipeline, road, and ship from Saltend.
