German Firm Buys Wellman Fibers

Aurelius (Munich), an industrial holding company, says it has acquired Wellman International, the European polyester staple fibers business of Wellman, for $38 million. Wellman International has annual sales of about €110 million ($150 million) and about 380 employees. It has capacity to produce approximately 185 million lbs/year of polyester fiber, primarily using post-consumer recycled materials.
