Europe launches in-depth investigation into proposed Solvay-Ineos chlorvinyls JV

The European Commisison says it has opened an in-depth investigation into the previously announced plans of Solvay and Ineos to merge their chlorvinyls activities in Europe into a 50-50 joint venture. The commission says its preliminary investigation indicated competition concerns in the market for suspension polyvinyl chloride (S-PVC) and sodium hypochlorite (bleach).
