Dow JV with Reliance Faces Challenge from Private Equity Bid...

Dow Chemical and Reliance Industries are in “hectic” negotiations to form a worldwide joint venture in commodity chemicals and plastics, according to a report in the Times of India last week. “A large Reliance team is camped in the U.S.,” the report says. The companies have already signed a memorandum of understanding, the report adds. However, the jv could be derailed by a rumored acquisition bid for Dow from a consortium of private equity capital firms, the report says (p. 11).
