Croda's first-quarter pretax profit jumps up 6.5%

Croda (Goole, UK) posted a £65.1-million ($99.3 million) pretax profit during the first quarter of the year, up 6.5% from the same quarter in 2012, when it recorded £61.1 million, the company announced today. The group recorded sales of £283.1 million, up 0.4% from the same period last year. "Despite the adverse impact of an earlier Easter this year, ... first-quarter results represent a solid start to the year, " the company said.
