Compass Minerals reports sales surge due to late winter snow

Late winter snow helped sales and earnings for Compass Minerals, which reported several increases today in its first-quarter results. Net income grew 16% year-on-year (YOY), to $46.6 million, while earnings per share of $1.38/share well surpassed analyst consensus of $1.12/share, according to Thomson Reuters (New York).
