Codexis and Chemtex begin production of cellulosic detergent alcohols

Codexis and Chemtex (Tortona, Italy), a chemical engineering and renewable technology firm, announced it has successfully started production of their newly developed cellulosic detergent alcohols. The companies began production at a 1,500-liter demonstration facility at Chemtex’s R&D complex at Tortona. The successful launch, the companies say, is a part of a deal made in August 2011 for the companies to develop a process for converting cellulosic biomass to detergent alcohols for the household products market using Chemtex’s pretreatment and...
