Chemtura Reports First-Quarter Loss; Divests Organic Peroxides

Chemtura reported a loss from continuing operations of $15.5 million in the first quarter, compared to earnings of $13.2 million in the year-ago period. The company says earnings were negatively impacted by higher raw material and energy costs, particularly in its plastics additives division, as well as other corporate charges.
