People & Business :: Companies Chemicals Drive Akzo’s Third-Quarter Earnings Growth5:15 AM MDT | October 23, 2007 | Kerri Walsh Akzo Nobel reported third-quarter net income down 10%, to €281 million ($399.6 million) including impairment and restructuring charges. Akzo reported combined net income from its coatings and chemicals businesses up 16%, to €156 million before incidentals, on sales up 2%, to €2.6 billion. Net income from those businesses fell 30%, to €136 million including special items. Net income from the Organon BioSciences pharmaceuticals business, which Akzo is in the process of selling to Schering-Plough, rose 22%, to €145 million. Akzo did not disclose...
