Cabot earnings fall on Japan outage, miss estimates

Cabot (Boston) reported net income of $27 million for the quarter ended 31 March, down 89% from the year-ago quarter, which included a one-time gain of $190 million from the sale of Cabot’s supermetals business. Net sales totaled $842 million, about level with the year-ago period’s $844 million.
