CB&I acquires Phillips 66 gasification technology

CB&I (The Woodlands, TX) has announced it has entered an agreement with Phillips 66 to acquire Phillips’ E-Gas technology business—a gasification technology that converts coal or petroleum coke into synthetic gas (syngas), which is then used for power generation or further converted to substitute natural gas, hydrogen, and downstream methanol-related chemical production. “We look forward to adding the E-Gas technology to our portfolio, which will mark our entry into the syngas value chain," says Daniel McCarthy, group president of...
