Borealis profit up 48% in fourth quarter, full-year sales break €8 billion

Borealis achieved €148 million ($203 million) in net profit for the fourth quarter of 2013, an increase of 48% compared with the same quarter of 2012, according to the company's results released today. Sales during the quarter amounted to €2.15 billion, up 14.5%. Borealis's full-year net sales in 2013 exceeded €8 billion for the first time in the company's history. Net profit for the whole year fell to €423 million, however, from €480 million in 2012. The decline was due to a softening fertilizer market, although the polyolefins business...
