People & Business :: Companies BASF to Cut EU Polystyrene Production by 25%.9:54 AM MDT | September 19, 2008 | Alex Scott BASF says from October 1 it will slash production of polystyrene (PS) in Europe by 25%. “The reason for this step is the diminished demand for the standard plastic PS, a development that can be ascribed to the current economic downturn,” BASF says. BASF has a PS capacity of 620,000-m.t./year in Europe.
