BASF merges water, oil field, and mining businesses; cuts 215 jobs

BASF says it will combine its water solutions, oil field solutions, and mining solutions businesses, effective 1 April, to create a new global business unit. The restructuring involves about 215 job losses worldwide in the water solutions business, most of which will be at UK sites at Bradford and Grimsby. BASF aims to complete the job cuts by the end of 2015. "The planned measures are needed to achieve cost competitiveness," BASF says.
