BASF declares force majeur on citral derivatives

BASF says it has declared force majeure on citral-based aroma chemicals, as well as vitamin A and vitamin E products. The company has shut down the citral plant at Ludwigshafen because of a fire caused by a failure in some technical equipment, it says. The plant will be closed for a period of four weeks from today, based on current estimates, according to BASF. The company says it is evaluation the effects of the force majeure on customers and is implementing measures to limit the consequences of the situation.
