BASF and Monsanto Team Up for Seed Development

BASF and Monsanto say they have formed a long-term joint R&D and commercialization initiative for genetically modified (GM) seeds that will produce higher-yield crops and crops that can better withstand adverse growing conditions, such as drought. The companies say they expect to generate a “greater number of viable research projects” than they could have done on their own, accelerate the development of new products, and bring a greater number of traits to the market at a faster speed.
