Axalta to construct Shanghai automotive coatings facility

Axalta Coating Systems, the former automotive coatings unit of DuPont now owned by The Carlyle Group, will invest over $50 million to construct a 25,000-m.t. paint manufacturing facility at Shanghai to supply automobile manufacturers in south and central China. Construction is expected to break ground in the second half of 2013—with production beginning the first quarter 2015, pending government approval, the company says. “The waterborne coatings that will be produced at the new facility will be used in two of the consolidated manufacturing processes...
