Ashland Earnings Rise on Specialty Sales Growth

Ashland’s fiscal second-quarter earnings from continuing operations rose 57% year-on-year, to $121 million, or $1.52/share, on higher sales in the company’s specialty ingredients business. Earnings beat analysts’ consensus of $1.39/share, as reported by Thomson Reuters (New York). Sales were up 2%, to $2.1 billion. Ashland’s fiscal second-quarter ended on March 31.
