Amcol board says it may accept latest MTI bid

Amcol’s (Hoffman Estates, IL) board of directors today said it found Minerals Technologies’ (MTI) latest, $45.75/share, bid to acquire the bentonite producer to be “superior” to Imerys’ latest $45.25/bid. MTI's latest bid was announced on Monday. Imerys now has four business days to match MTI’s offer, under the terms of the merger agreement between the two, which was signed on 11 February. If Imerys does not match the offer by 12 March, Amcol says it will accept MTI’s bid. Amcol and Imerys’ original merger agreement...
