Tokuyama swings to profit

Tokuyama (Tokyo) has recorded a net profit of ¥4.51 billion ($45.7 million) for the fiscal first half, ended 30 September, compared with a net loss of ¥2.53 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. First-half sales increased 7.2%, to ¥135 billion despite lower sales volume for polysilicon products, largely because of higher sales volumes for vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and higher selling prices for petrochemical products.
