Solvay reports 79% net income increase, plans silica investment

Solvay achieved a 79% increase in its net income, group share, for the fourth quarter of 2012, to €203 million ($273 million) from €184 million in the fourth quarter a year before, the company announced today. Ebit also went up by 78%, to €349 million from €196 million over the same period. Net sales increased to €2.99 billion, up 4% from the €2.87 billion reported in the fourth quarter of 2011.
