Showa Denko chemicals businesses post higher earnings

Showa Denko recorded a 23.5% fall in net profits for the first quarter ended 31 March compared with the year-ago quarter, to ¥4.07 billion ($41.2 million). First-quarter sales increased 6.1%, to ¥192.4 billion, largely because of higher sales in the company's petrochemicals business segment, Showa Denko says.
