Saudi company joins SK Gas in PDH plan

Advanced Petrochemical Co. (Al Jubail) has signed a memorandum of understanding with SK Gas (Seoul) to become a joint venture partner in SK’s previously announced propane dehydrogenation (PDH) project at Ulsan, South Korea. Advanced, or its subsidiary, Advanced Global Investment Co., will hold a minimum of 25% in the jv. The project is expected to cost $900 million and produce 600,000 m.t./year of propylene. SK earlier selected Catofin PDH technology, comprising Lummus’s process and Clariant’s catalysts. Completion is expected in the first quarter of 2016...
