QP, Shell award FEED contract for Qatar project to Fluor12:39 PM MST | March 1, 2013 Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Shell Chemicals have awarded engineering firm Fluor the front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for the Al Karaana Petrochemicals Complex at Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar, the companies said on Thursday. Shell and QP are still considering the scope of the project, which could include a world-scale steam cracker fed from natural gas projects in Qatar; a 1.5-million m.t./year monoethylene glycol (MEG) plant employing Shell’s Omega technology; a 300,000-m.t./year linear alpha-olefin unit using Shell’s Higher Olefins Process...
