Novozymes and Shengquan Finalize Enzyme Supply Deal

Novozymes says it has today signed a final agreement for enzyme supply with the Shengquan Group (Jinan, China) for the previously announced deal that will enable Shengquan to start commercial-scale production of cellulosic ethanol for solvents. The deal was signed during Chinese president Hu Jintao’s state visit to Denmark. Shengquan has invested $100 million in a new facility and when it starts producing cellulosic ethanol next month, it will be the first in the world to do so on a commercial scale, Novozymes says.
