Momentive sales decline on soft silicones and epoxy resins demand

Momentive Performance Materials and Momentive Specialty Chemicals, the thermoset resins business of Momentive, both reported drops in sales for the third quarter 2012. Momentive Performance Materials's third-quarter loss widened to $81 million, compared with a loss of $32 million in the year-ago quarter, reflecing margin compression in certain product lines and a product mix shift due to declines in certain higher-margin products, the company says.
