Mexichem, OxyChem sign agreement for Texas cracker

Mexichem and OxyChem have formed a 50-50 joint venture, Ingleside Ethylene, to construct a previously announced cracker at OxyChem’s Ingleside, TX, facility. The cracker is expected to produce 550,000 m.t./year of ethylene. The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding in August 2012. OxyChem expects to award the engineering and construction contract by year-end, with construction beginning mid-2014 and commissioning in the first quarter of 2017.
