Italian court nullifies Invista's barrier patent, says M&G

M&G Chemicals says an Italian court has confirmed a ruling against Invista, declaring void the Italian counterpart of its patent for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) barrier resin for bottles. The Court of Milan has ruled that Invista must pay all damages caused “through the acts of unfair competition,” says M&G, and ordered an immediate payment of €70,000, with a final evaluation of damages to follow. The court has also required Invista to pay legal costs and fees in the amount of €50,000 as well as the cost of an expert appointed by the court...
