IHS: Egypt crisis could impact global petchems supply chains

The civil unrest in Egypt has driven up prices for oil and certain associated petrochemicals and, based on an analysis of historic trends, a sustained increase in oil costs could result in a surge in petrochemical costs, inflating prices for a slew of products, says IHS Supply Chain Pricing & Purchasing. Crude oil prices soared back through the $100/bbl level in July, reaching an average of $104.70/bbl. They are expected to go up again, to $106.67/bbl, during August before easing as the end of the summer driving season reduces seasonal demand, IHS says...
