Huntsman and Sinopec to build PO/MTBE plant in China

Huntsman Corp. says it has entered into a joint venture agreement with Sinopec Jinling (Nanjing, China), a subsidiary of Sinopec, to build a propylene oxide/methyl tert-butyl ether (PO/MTBE) facility at Nanjing, China. The jv, Nanjing Jinling Huntsman New Materials, will build and operate a world scale PO/MTBE facility that will produce 550 mm lbs of PO and 1.6 billion lbs of MTBE at a capital cost of about $750 million.
