Evonik expands precipitated silica capacity in Thailand

Evonik Industries says it is significantly expanding precipitated silica capacity at the company’s production site at Map Ta Phut. The expansion involves an investment in the lower double-digit million-euro range, and the expansion is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2014, Evonik says. In addition to its application in the automotive industry for low-rolling-resistance tires, silica is also used in the food, animal feed, and paints and coatings industries. Demand in Southeast Asia for precipitated silica has risen sharply in these industries...
