Doha talks extend Kyoto Protocol10:54 AM MST | December 10, 2012 This year's UN climate change summit closed in Doha on 8 December with an agreement among 38 industrialized countries to sign up to an extension of the Kyoto Protocol, still the only binding accord on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The deal extends the life of the Kyoto accord from 1 January 2013 until 2020. The protocol had been due to expire at the end of this year. EU member states are among countries to have signed up to the Kyoto extension. However, major polluters—including Canada, China, Japan, Russia, and the United States—did not sign up...
