Chemicals sector rail traffic rises 0.6%

Chemicals sector rail traffic in North America rose 0.6% year-on-year (YOY) during the week ended 17 August, to 41,359 cars, according to the Association of American Railroads (AAR; Washington). US traffic was down 2.1%, to 29,594 cars. Canadian traffic increased 4.7%, to 10,255 cars, while Mexican traffic was up 39.7%, to 1,510 cars. Overall, North American freight rail traffic rose 1.2% YOY during the week ended 17 August, to 390,103 cars, AAR says. Year-to-date, the North American chemicals sector has generated 1,404,133 cars of rail traffic, up 2.3% from 2012...
