Celanese swings to profit

Celanese has reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $654 million, compared with a loss of $169 million in the year-ago period. Net sales increased 7.7% year-over-year (YOY), to $1.62 billion. Reported adjusted earnings for the quarter of $1.04/share were 55% up from the year-ago quarter and 3 cents above the consensus estimate of $1.01/share. Operating Ebitda totaled $319 million, up 26% YOY.
