Cefic: Carbon dioxide is renewable feedstock

The use of carbon dioxide (CO2) as a renewable resource in the chemical industry can be a key strategy to support the sustainable development and future competitiveness of the chemical sector in the European Union, Gernot Klotz, executive director/research and innovation at Cefic, said at the opening session of the recent Carbon Dioxide Utilization Summit at Brussels. "Europe can no longer afford to look at CO2 as pollution or waste to be disposed of but rather as a renewable resource for the future," he says.
