Braskem net income up 49%

Braskem’s first quarter earnings totaled R$227 million ($113 million), up 49% year-over-year (YOY) from R$152 million, but down 18% sequentially from R$275 million in the fourth quarter of 2012. YOY results improved on stronger plastic and petrochemical margins, according to Braskem. Net revenue for the first quarter totaled R$9.30 billion, up 15% YOY from R$8.07 billion, and up 1% sequentially from R$9.23 billion.
