Bayer posts higher profits, maintains 2013 forecast

Bayer reported strong second quarter growth in its HealthCare and CropScience businesses but said that Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) faced difficult market conditions. "We are currently maintaining our forecast for 2013, even if this appears increasingly ambitious," says chairman Marijn Dekkers. Group net income was up 74.8%, at €841 million ($1.1 billion), on sales 2% higher, at €10.36 billion.
