BASF and Sinopec break ground on isononanol plant

BASF and Sinopec today have broken ground on the previously announced world-scale isononanol (INA) plant in the Maoming Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone at Maoming, China. A 50-50 joint venture company called BASF MPCC has been created for the project. BASF and Sinopec, in January 2013, completed a joint feasibility study to establish the INA plant at Maoming. The plant, which is expected to start production in 2015, is the first INA plant in China and will create about 100 new jobs, BASF says.
