3M announces fluoroelastomer investment at Decatur

3M says it is expanding production capacity for fluoroelastomers and polymer processing additives industries at its Decatur, AL, plant. Plans include upgraded equipment that will significantly increase throughput and output capacity, although the company did not disclose expected capital costs. 3M expects to complete the expansion in the second quarter of 2013. 3M fluoropolymers are widely used in automotive, aerospace, and chemical processing.
