US indicts Kevlar competitor on criminal trade theft charges

The US Department of Justice says a grand jury has indicted South Korea’s Kolon Industries and five of its executives for criminal trade secrets theft. At issue is the alleged theft by Kolon of trade secretes related to DuPont’s para-aramid fiber, used to make DuPont products sold under the Kevlar brand. The case is separate from a civil suit filed by DuPont against Kolon. In the civil case, a jury last year awarded DuPont $919 million in compensatory damages and DuPont is seeking a 20-year injunction barring Kolon from manufacturing or selling...
