Swiss Firm to Buy BASF’s LAB Business

BASF says it has agreed to divest its Chemische Fabrik Wibarco (Ibbenbüren, Germany) linear alkyl benzene (LAB) and linear alkyl benzene sulfonate (LAS) business, to Hansa Chemie International (HCI; Zurich) for an undisclosed sum. The deal will mark BASF’s exit from the LAB market, and HCI’s entrance. The deal is expected to close next July pending antitrust approval.
