Markets :: Specialty Chemicals :: Surfactants Sasol Shutters Two LAB Plants3:08 PM MDT | August 7, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Sasol says it will cease production of linear alkylbenzene (LAB) at Porto Torres, Italy and Baltimore for “an indefinite period of time,” and close its Bad Homburg, Germany office. Sasol will continue to produce LAB at Lake Charles, LA and Augusta, Italy, and plans to cut costs at those sites, says Guido Safran, v.p./alkylates and surfactants. The global LAB market has been “subject to high and volatile feedstock prices” in recent years, Safran says.
