Surfactants Suppliers Struggle to Lift Profits

Product price increases and corporate cost-saving initiatives have not been enough to offset increasing costs for key raw materials and energy, a situation that is causing some firms to exit the market, say surfactant suppliers to the soaps and detergents industry. Given these cost pressures, some suppliers say they are focusing R&D efforts on working with customers to develop cost-saving measures, including developing alternatives for traditional petrochemical-based surfactants.
