Saudi Kayan starts up detergent alcohols plant

Saudi Kayan, a Sabic affiliate, has begun trial runs at its natural detergent alcohols plant at Al Jubail. Full commercial production is expected to be achieved in the next six months. The 50,000-m.t./year plant had originally been slated to be onstream in the second half of 2013.    Sinopec Engineering built the plant under a $130-million contract awarded in 2011. Announcing the start-up of the plant, the first such facility in the Mideast, Mutlaq Al Morished, chairman of Saudi Kayan and CFO of Sabic, praised the contractor and Kayan’s employees...
